PBE is a high-performance polymer material with excellent elasticity, and can be widely used in industries such as manufacturing and construction. Pilot testing is an important stage between lab tests and industrial application. The first pilot-scale plant of its kind in China, put into operation this time, utilizes solution polymerization technology and catalysts developed independently by Sinopec to produce a range of new acrylic elastomer products. The successful commissioning of this device means that Sinopec now has the foundation needed to accelerate the industrialization of acrylate elastomer technology. The Tianjin Scientific Testing Base of the North China Research Institute is Sinopec’s first large-scale pilot plant construction project. The project is constructed in two phases. Phase 1 includes 13 pilot-scale units for olefin polymerization, polyolefin catalysts, specialty elastomers, etc., all of which are built using process technologies owned by Sinopec. The second-phase plan includes the establishment of pilot-scale R&D platforms in areas such as fine chemicals and environmental protection technologies, with the goal of creating a world-class R&D center for chemical materials that integrates the development of advanced polymerization processes, research on high-performance materials, production of premium chemicals, and the incubation of complete sets of technologies.
