Zhongzhi Weiye News | Agreement signed for 1,000-ton sulfide solid electrolyte project On February 5, Enjie Co., Ltd. and the Management Committee of Yuxi High-Tech Industrial Development Zone officially signed a framework agreement for a pilot production line project aimed at manufacturing 1,000 tons per year of sulfide solid electrolyte materials. It is reported that the pilot production line project for sulfide solid electrolyte materials, built in Yuxi High-Tech Zone by Enjie Co., Ltd. or its subsidiary Hunan Enjie Frontier New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., has a total investment of 250 million yuan; once completed, the facility will be able to produce 1,000 tons per year. In the future, both parties will leverage their respective strengths to deepen cooperation and work together to promote the development of the new energy industry in Yuxi. Sulfide solid-state electrolytes (lithium phosphorus sulfur chloride, LPSC) can be used as separator materials for the anode and cathode in all-solid-state batteries; possessing both lithium ion conductivity and electrical insulation properties, they are considered one of the promising candidate materials for such batteries. As a global leader in lithium battery separator supply, Enjie Co., Ltd. had its Hunan Enjie subsidiary collaborate with technical teams from various domestic universities as early as 2021. Products related to lithium sulfide, sulfide-based solid electrolyte powders, and all-solid-state electrolyte membranes are currently in the sample-supply stage. The details are as follows: (1) For lithium sulfide, production is carried out using the carbothermal reduction method, which gives it a cost advantage in the short term; its purity and particle size parameters are among the best in the industry. The production capacity at a pilot scale of one ton per year has already been established, and pilot production on a scale of 100 tons is being accelerated. (2) In terms of sulfide electrolytes, current capabilities meet the requirements of different customers regarding conductivity and particle size distribution; a production line for 10-ton-scale sulfide solid electrolytes is currently being established. (3) In terms of electrolyte membranes, efforts are focused on developing continuous roll-to-roll production technologies; small-scale supply has already been achieved, and both wet and dry processes for electrolyte membrane production have been planned. At the same time, the company is committed to improving the use of solid electrolytes in battery systems, and is also exploring new types of electrode coatings as well as new battery structures.
