Some large stainless steel equipment, such as storage tanks, requires a hydrostatic test after being manufactured on-site. The standard specifies that the chloride ion concentration should be below 25 mg/L, yet the quality of the raw water at the construction site is 800 mg/L; in some cases it is at least 100 mg/L. Has anyone encountered this situation? How is it usually handled?

It can be used for testing, but not for subsequent operations.
The quality of your water is not up to standard; our wastewater discharge levels must be below 100, while those for fire-fighting water are generally required to be below 25!
It is best to wash it with deionized water after the testing to reduce chloride corrosion!
After the test, thoroughly remove all water stains.
It’s fine to give it a try if the conditions truly don’t allow it
After the test is complete, drain and dry it; in this case, there is no need to control the chloride ion content.
