Two projects developed by Pipeline Network Group – an offline simulation software for ultra-large-scale long-distance natural gas pipelines, as well as equipment for analyzing the properties of natural gas – were successfully included in this list. To overcome the bottlenecks in oil and gas pipeline simulation technology in China, **Pipeline Group established a joint research team in January 2022, with the Research Institute and the Oil and Gas Regulation Center as its core. Guided by a new R&D framework characterized by industrialization, streamlined processes, and high standards, the team successfully developed offline simulation software for ultra-large-scale long-distance natural gas pipelines, filling the gap in domestic industrial-grade pipeline simulation software. The overall performance of this software is on par with that of foreign commercial software; its fault tolerance and computational accuracy reach the highest levels among similar foreign products. It is the first domestic industrial software for offline simulation of gas pipelines that possesses complete independent intellectual property rights. It is also the world’s first simulation software to have completed pressure tests on a pipeline network spanning 60,000 kilometers, achieving an internationally advanced level overall, with its \"simulation solution methods\" and \"industrial-grade simulation technologies\" reaching an internationally leading standard. In August 2024, the simulation software initiated a full-scale replacement with domestic alternatives at the oil and gas control center, with plans to use it in formulating operation plans for natural gas pipelines spanning over 50,000 kilometers. To date, the testing for the domestic substitution of four pipeline systems, including the western sections of the West-East Gas Transmission Lines 1, 2, and 3 as well as the Shaanxi-Beijing pipeline, has been completed. The offline simulation software for ultra-large-scale long-distance natural gas pipelines has resulted in 45 patent applications, 2 software copyright approvals, 10 published papers, and 1 international standard proposal; moreover, it has been adopted by over 20 organizations for practical use. The approval of this **first major technical equipment in the energy sector marks a qualitative shift in China’s field of pipeline network simulation – from reliance on imports to independent research and development, and from following existing technologies to taking the lead in this industry.
