The unit was able to maintain a peak load of 650 megawatts, with all parameters operating within normal ranges. This testing confirmed the technical feasibility of the project. This project is the first of its kind in China to employ multi-source steam extraction and distribution control technology, enabling it to handle both peak shaving and peak loading tasks; it is a large-scale steam-extraction salt-bed energy storage project with a total investment of 320 million yuan and an area of approximately 7,900 square meters. After the project is put into operation, the unit’s peak-shaving capacity will increase by 100 megawatts, while its peak output capacity will rise by 30–60 megawatts. The AGC response speed of the unit will be 1.5 times faster than before. The heat release system is equipped with interfaces for supplying steam externally, allowing the unit to store and release steam simultaneously during deep regulation periods; the maximum steam supply rate can reach 230 tons per hour. The thermal power coupled salt-based energy storage technology used in this project represents a new type of energy storage method that is clean, efficient, and environmentally friendly; it boasts numerous advantages such as fast response times, long service life, and low maintenance costs. The successful implementation of this project will effectively enhance the peak-shaving capacity of the Southern Hebei power grid, allowing for the utilization of approximately 520 million kWh of renewable energy each year. It will play a positive role in promoting the transformation of China’s energy structure and improving air quality, while also providing strong support for the establishment of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system as well as for the development of new forms of productive capacity.
