Total investment: 10 billion yuan! Huafeng launches a new generation of bio-based PTMEG. On April 14, Jiangsu Huafeng Ruixun Biomaterials Co., Ltd. officially announced that, leveraging its advanced innovative technologies in the field of bio-based materials, it has launched its latest research achievement: CovationBio? bioPTMEG. This advanced sustainable poly**tetrahydrofuran (PTMEG) product not only offers excellent performance, but also significantly reduces its environmental impact. CovationBio™ bio-based PTMEG serves as a bio-based alternative to petroleum-based PTMEG. It is designed to help customers reduce their reliance on non-renewable materials. Moreover, it exhibits excellent durability and elasticity in high-performance applications such as spandex, polyurethane, and thermoplastic elastomers. Bio-based PTMEG offers significant sustainability advantages: compared to products made from traditional petrochemical raw materials, it results in a considerable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions ; The product is 100% bio-based; its raw materials are derived from naturally renewable resources each year ; The raw materials selected are biomasses that do not compete with the supply of staple foods ; It effectively reduces dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels. It can directly replace petroleum-based PTMEG, with performance comparable to that of petroleum-based products. This enables downstream industries to smoothly transition to bio-based raw materials without the need for significant process adjustments. Mr. Yu Feifeng, Chairman of Ruixun Biomaterials, said, “We are committed to realizing a sustainable and decarbonized vision for the materials industry. To this end, CovationBio has launched a new generation of bio-based PTMEG – a crucial step toward achieving this goal.” We utilize the carbon absorbed from the atmosphere during plant growth to create materials that can improve the quality of life. Currently, we are striving to scale up production in order to substantially reduce our carbon footprint. ” Currently, the company is constructing a commercial plant in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province. It is expected that the construction will be completed by the end of 2025, and commercial production of the products is anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2026. According to the company, the raw materials for the plant will primarily be non-food biomass materials such as corn cobs. In 2025, it plans to carry out application development and brand building, thereby laying the foundation for the official sale of products in 2026.
