According to news from August 7, 2025, **information from the Intellectual Property Office shows that Sinopec Corporation and Beijing University of Chemical Technology have filed a patent application titled “Graphene Oxide-Grafted Sulfonated Polystyrene Material and Its Preparation Method,” with the publication number CN120424520A; the application was submitted in February 2024. The patent abstract indicates that this invention relates to the field of polystyrene materials, and discloses a graphene oxide-grafted sulfonated polystyrene material as well as its preparation method. The method includes: (1) under the presence of solvent I, carrying out a first mixing reaction between acetic anhydride and sulfuric acid with a concentration of ≮90 wt%, to obtain a sulfonation reagent ; (2) In the presence of solvent I, the sulfonation reagent is mixed with polystyrene a second time to obtain the sulfonated polystyrene ; (3) The first solution containing graphene oxide and the second solution containing sulfonated polystyrene are brought into contact for a reaction, optionally, said contact reaction is carried out in the presence of sulfuric acid at a concentration of ≮90 wt%. The method for preparing graphene oxide-grafted sulfonated polystyrene materials provided by the present invention features simple operation, high reaction efficiency, and adjustable grafting density.
