Approval of the preliminary design for the Guangdong Province Synthetic Biology Manufacturing Pilot Platform project

On August 13, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued a approval regarding the preliminary design estimate for the synthetic biology manufacturing pilot platform project in Guangdong Province. Project scale and scope: Four pilot-scale sub-platforms will be primarily developed. The first is an intelligent microbial pilot platform, which includes the capability to develop pilot-scale production processes for high-value bio-based products, as well as platform facilities that can be used to produce a variety of products ； The second is the pilot platform for functional macromolecules, which includes establishing the process validation and scale-up production capabilities for biological macromolecules such as functional proteins ； Third is the pilot platform for green biomass methanol, which includes the development of capabilities for research and testing of biomass gasification systems ； Fourth is the intelligent plant pilot platform, which includes the construction of an intelligent vertical plant factory. The reconstructed area of the project is approximately 8,500 square meters. It is planned to purchase approximately 365 sets of instruments and equipment. The total estimated investment for the project is 217.33 million yuan, of which 194.59 million yuan is allocated to project construction costs, 21.86 million yuan to other expenses related to project construction, and 0.88 million yuan to contingency funds.
