On December 3, 2025, the entire production process of this facility was completed successfully, yielding high-quality anhydrous ethanol and biological proteins. This marks a successful validation of the process used in this pilot project, opening up a new and effective path for the low-carbon and green transformation of China’s chemical industry – a milestone achievement of great significance. The anhydrous ethanol production facility deployed this time utilizes the patented one-step syngas biofermentation technology developed by the American company Synata Bio. Using industrial waste gases from the Yongcheng industrial park as raw material, and through the metabolic actions of specialized microbial strains, components such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide in these gases are converted into anhydrous ethanol; at the same time, ethanol protein is also produced as a by-product. This approach not only overcomes the limitations of traditional ethanol production methods, which involve competition with food crops for land and resources, but also opens up new pathways for producing ethanol from non-food sources. Furthermore, it establishes an industrial model characterized by efficient conversion of raw materials, diversified value addition to products, and a green, low-carbon cycle. The 50,000 tons per year anhydrous ethanol project carries the important mission of extending and strengthening the industrial chain in the Yongcheng industrial park, as well as promoting transformation and upgrading. The syngas comes from the 500,000-ton per year methanol production project of Henan Longyu Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. This portion of gas is mainly methanol synthesis gas after the removal of acidic gases, with a production volume of 144,767 m3/h. The amount of syngas required for this project is approximately 23,625 m3/h. Due to the declining market profitability of methanol plants, the production volume of products from these plants will decrease by approximately 16.3% after the completion of this project. The project’s water supply and centralized sewage treatment rely entirely on the existing infrastructure of Henan Longyu Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. The total investment for the project is 310 million yuan. Henan Sailongtu Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established through a partnership between Henan Longyu Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., Shanghai Hetu Engineering Co., Ltd., Henan Ruibai New Materials Co., Ltd., Yongcheng Zhicheng Industrial Investment Management Co., Ltd., and Synatabio InC.
