The main production methods include HEFA (hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids), ATJ (alcohol-jet fuel), and FT (Fischer-Tropsch synthesis). The HEFA process uses animal or vegetable fats, or waste fats, to undergo hydrogenation and deoxygenation under high temperature and pressure to produce alkanes ； The ATJ process gasifies biomass to produce syngas, which is then used to manufacture jet fuel via methanol ； The FT process produces straight-chain alkanes from syngas obtained through biomass gasification, under the action of iron-cobalt catalysts. SAF must meet the ASTM D7566 standard; when mixed with fossil aviation fuel in a 50% ratio, it can reduce carbon emissions by 50–80%.
