The key performance indicators of this product far exceed industry standards, thus filling a gap in China’s capabilities regarding large-scale production of high-end oxalate products. At present, China’s coal-based ethylene glycol industry is facing the common challenge of temporary overcapacity. Building on its foundation in a coal-based ethylene glycol production capacity of millions of tons, Tianye Group has adopted an innovative \"one core, multiple outputs\" strategy, focusing its efforts on the development of high-value-added products in the oxalate series. In collaboration with Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, it has developed a set of green transesterification techniques for producing oxalates from coal-based ethylene glycol intermediates, creating a process suite with fully independent intellectual property rights. Compared to the traditional esterification production route, the new process offers significant advantages in terms of reaction efficiency, energy consumption control, and production costs. Leveraging its core technology platform, Tianye Group has successfully expanded the coal-based ethylene glycol production chain to areas such as pharmaceutical intermediates, highly effective and low-toxicity pesticides, special solvents, new energy materials, and high-end oxalate intermediates. This has enabled the transformation of coal-based chemicals from basic bulk raw materials into high-end fine chemicals and specialized new materials, thus creating a new industrial development model characterized by diversified raw materials, high-end products, and market differentiation. At present, the oxalate-based product series manufactured by Tianye Group, thanks to their environmental-friendly properties and high performance, have been adopted in regions such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Jiangxi. They are used in various industries including new energy, electronics, coatings, pesticides, and environmental protection, and have been implemented on a large scale in numerous companies with excellent results. Taking this as a new starting point, Tianye Group will deepen its strategic partnerships with top domestic and international research institutions as well as partners in the industrial chain. Together, they will explore new avenues for high-end applications of coal-based fine chemicals, foster a new ecosystem for the high-quality development of this industry, and drive the advancement of China’s coal-based fine chemicals sector toward higher levels of sophistication, greener practices, and greater international integration.
The launch of this project truly represents significant progress in the field of domestic chemical equipment and new materials! A production capacity of 20,000 tons is not particularly large, but by leveraging Xinjiang’s advantages in coal resources, it is possible to establish a localized industrial chain ecosystem, which is highly beneficial for the upgrading of the regional chemical industry ; Under the general contracting of Donghua Technology, as a leading domestic enterprise in chemical engineering contracting, the technical implementation and construction quality of this project are both well assured, which also demonstrates that China’s capacity to supply chemical equipment is continuously keeping up with the demands of high-end new materials ; Oxalate esters are important intermediates for the synthesis of ethylene glycol and various downstream fine chemicals; once this project is put into operation, it will also help to supplement the supply of relevant raw materials in China and reduce reliance on imports.
