During operation, with the full oversight of experts from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, all process parameters of the pilot plant remained stable, and the key equipment operated properly. The plant’s ability to operate continuously, its adaptability to different operating conditions, and its level of process control were all thoroughly verified, marking a significant step forward for the company in the research and development of biomass pressurized gasification technologies as well as their practical implementation. The project is led by the Zhonghe Institute of CECEC, with the Northeast Institute of CECEC serving as a key participating entity. It carries out collaborative research in partnership with external partners such as Shenyang University of Chemical Technology and Wuxi Huaguang, focusing on systematic verification of key aspects including biomass pressurized gasification, the continuous and stable operation of the system, optimization of process parameters, and scale-up for practical application. In April 2026, China’s first demonstration project for producing green alcohols and oils through wind, solar power, and biomass hydrogen production, with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year, was launched in Kangping County, Shenyang. The core biomass gasification process in this project relies on the fluidized bed gasification technology owned by CECEC, which is protected by independent intellectual property rights. Technology can significantly improve the quality of syngas and the conversion efficiency, effectively addressing the industry challenges associated with high tar content in traditional biomass gasification and the difficulty in purifying syngas. The successful completion of this 72-hour continuous operation test marks an important breakthrough by CECEC in the research and development of biomass gasification technologies, as well as in their pilot-scale testing and industrial application. It lays a solid foundation for the subsequent transformation of scientific and technological achievements, the development of process packages for large-scale industrial facilities, and the use of green fuels such as green methanol and sustainable aviation fuel.
