I don’t understand what you mean. If it’s beyond the range, just expand the range – the transmitter’s measurement capabilities will suffice, and since there’s no flow restriction on the target plate, the process flow requirements can be met; so it’s possible to make the necessary modifications.

There’s no problem; as long as the differential pressure value of the orifice plate is accurate, the measurement data will also be accurate after the range is expanded.
However, for trade settlements, the use of orifice plate flow meters requires approval from both parties; in general trade transactions, mass flow meters or truck scales, rail scales, and similar devices are used.
The steam should be transported through pipes, right? Both parties should have metering orifice plates; after the expansion is completed, both sides can carry out calculations to determine the relevant values. For flow meters in such operating conditions, two sets – one larger and one smaller – are generally provided for use in trade settlements, with the flow meter being switched depending on the supply and demand of both parties.
For example, if a flow meter has a maximum measurement range of 1000 Nm3/h, will there be any errors in measurements if this value is changed to 1500 Nm3/h?
