Moreover, reducing the number of devices on a single bus does not result in significant cost savings; on the other hand, having too many devices leads to higher system latency and an increased likelihood of failures.
I read in an internal publication a few years ago that Huizhou Shell had the largest fieldbus system in Asia at that time, with over 20,000 units of various bus devices. I haven’t heard of any issues with its operation in these past years.
