Can a DO point be turned into a DI point?

Hello everyone. Due to on-site modifications that require additional IO signals, the DCS cabinet needs to be expanded. It has been found that there are not enough spare DI points in the cabinet, but there is still some capacity left for DO points. I was wondering if it would be possible to connect the on-site DI signals to the cabinet’s DO points, or to convert some of the cabinet’s DO points into DI points? Waiting online, in a hurry, thanks!

Some DCS card modules can be done through settings; you should ask the DCS manufacturer for details.
