In order to better summarize the experiences of large-scale domestic projects in recent years as well as those of Chinese enterprises in international project implementation, to study the development of the petrochemical industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan period and the application of key technologies such as inspection, monitoring, control, communication, and safety in smart factories, as well as address related challenges, and to foster collaboration among government agencies, industry players, academia, research institutions, and end-users, so as to further improve China’s capabilities in petrochemical project management, EPC, design, operation and maintenance, and procurement while bringing them in line with international standards, the Chinese Instrument and Control Society and the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Engineering Research Association have decided to jointly hold the “2017 8th China Petrochemical Major Projects Instrumentation and Control Technology Summit Forum (CPIF)” in April 2017. 2. The theme of the forum is to strengthen cooperation among industry, academia, research institutions, and end-users to advance the development of smart factories. Topics to be discussed include: an analysis of the development plan for the petrochemical industry from 2016 to 2020, as well as research directions and opportunities; the implementation status of the \"Document No. 116\" issued by the General Administration of Work Safety; the current status, development trends, requirements, and future prospects of key technologies such as standards for intelligent petrochemical factories, data collection, and automation control systems; a summary of the international project implementation experience of petrochemical and instrumentation automation companies; new standards, concepts, ideas, models for petrochemical automation design, along with their practical application; and the latest developments and applications of instrumentation engineering design software and other important tools and methods. 3. On-site demonstrations of new products and technologies that meet the needs of petrochemical engineering, including temperature, pressure, flow rate, level measurement devices, control valves, online analysis systems, transmitters, wireless instruments, safety-related instruments and systems, weighing equipment, automation software, specialized tools, special cables, industrial computers, servers, large-screen displays, network security devices, security monitoring systems, equipment online monitoring and diagnosis capabilities, intelligent inspection systems, and the Internet of Things.
