Dear experts: The quality of ORP meters produced in China varies greatly; even after calibration, significant deviations can occur when using these meters with actual liquids. Setting the deviation manually seems like a way of deceiving oneself. Is there any good method for achieving accurate measurements within the range of -100 to 100 over long periods of time (at least once a year)? I would appreciate your guidance. During use, ORP analyzers need to be calibrated as appropriate. The standard ORP buffer used for calibration also has a limited shelf life and becomes ineffective over time. Furthermore, the reference electrodes in the ORP sensors of some manufacturers lack stability, which can significantly affect the accuracy of measurements; in such cases, regular calibration is even more necessary. It is recommended to use a reliable ORP electrode, preferably one with a potassium chloride reference solution for replenishment, as this will result in a much more stable reference potential. Japanese DKK and Yokogawa Electric offer electrodes of this type, which feature a potassium chloride reference solution replenishment system.

Our company uses ABB Torrido DKK; it seems that Torrido offers the best quality with few problems. As for whether it can be calibrated once a year, I can’t guarantee that. Our measurements are uncertain due to issues with the process; we’ll check them using a standard solution, and if there’s still an inaccuracy, we’ll perform calibration.
