What are the welding requirements at the pressure tapping flange of the orifice plate used for flange-based pressure measurement? The company has now purchased many integrated self-insulating orifice plates, but the length of the straight pipe sections does not meet the requirements, so welding is necessary. Will this affect the accuracy of the measurements? I hope everyone will come and discuss it
If the weld is smooth, there’s no problem.
It is preferable to have no welds in the straight pipe section; if welding is necessary, TIG welding can be used, with TIG welding used for the root pass in order to reduce weld beads inside the pipe and maintain a smooth interior as much as possible.

Strictly speaking, the accuracy of measurement will definitely have an impact; it depends on the accuracy requirements you are willing to accept. The length of your straight pipe section itself does not meet the requirements (by how much does it differ from the standard requirements?) ), welding is required; therefore, first you need to select the external pipes (the inner diameter of these pipes should be as consistent as possible with that of the straight sections, and their inner surfaces should meet the required standards). For the welding method, TIG welding as mentioned above should be used for the base layer, and care must be taken to align the pipes properly (ensuring strict coaxiality of the pipes).
The requirements for the straight pipe section surrounding the orifice plate are 10D in front and 5D behind, where D is the diameter of the pipe.
