In my work, I often come across the air supply terminals on valves; when someone asks about their dimensions, I can only determine them by using the methods taught to me by my seniors. I don’t know exactly how many pairs there are, nor do I understand why For example: 3/8-Ф8, 1/4-Ф8. I know that Ф8 means 8 mm, but for 3/8, it’s not simply 25.4/8*3. I would like to ask those who are more experienced: does anyone have a chart or calculation method for selecting gas supply terminals? Thank you! 3/8 – you need to determine which type of thread it is; specifically, whether it’s G, R, NPT, or M. These different thread types have varying outer diameters. The 3/8 simply indicates 3/8 inch. For example, 1/2 NPT and G1/2 have different outer diameters, and NPT is a tapered thread while G is a pipe thread.

How do you measure tapered threads? Here’s a table for you to figure it out on your own
A 3/8 inch pipe is 25.4/8*3; threaded fittings, on the other hand, are not
The nominal diameter is a nominal size; the actual size should be checked in relevant manuals or standards. For example, the outer diameter of a 1/2 pipe is over 21 mm.
