The company has several guided-wave radar level gauges, and the manufacturer already set the measurement range and blind zone before shipping them. The production department wants these settings to be changed according to their own requirements. Previously, the empty mark was at 1.5 meters, the full mark at 1.3 meters, and the blind zone was 20 centimeters. Now I want to change the measurement range to 1.1 meters; should the blind zone be set at 40 centimeters or 20 centimeters? I remember that for Emerson’s devices, it cannot exceed 20 or 30 centimeters?

The range can be changed to 1.1m, with a blind zone of 40cm. The blind zone has only a minimum value; you can set it higher yourself.

Of course, if your previous settings worked fine, then simply changing the range means that the blind area can remain unchanged or it can stay as it is
Radar generally only requires the tank height, blind zone and range, as well as the tank type. This must be ultrasonic, right? I think you just need to reduce both the full mark and the empty mark by 20 cm
Well, I reduced it by 20 at the same time... Previously, I had the data and equipment specifications provided by design institutes, but this new company doesn’t have anything of that kind. Even their own production department doesn’t know how deep the underground storage tanks are, and those in charge of installation don’t know the length of the equipment; they just give me some random parameters, which leaves me quite confused……

The main issue is the chaotic structure of our company; the relevant information isn’t available directly from the instrumentation department, and it’s unclear where to find such information. The production department suddenly gave instructions on-site, so I had no choice but to follow those instructions, without knowing the actual length of the detection rod used in the equipment
For newly installed devices, it’s better to have the manufacturer handle them carefully. Management chaos is widespread
