This post was last edited by Hunter1 on 2017-9-16 at 20:24. Our facility has many Yokogawa vortex flowmeters, and sometimes they experience issues with inaccurate flow measurements. Just remove it and clean it. During the cleaning process, it was found that there was a small pit inside the flow meter pipe, right below the body in question; the lower part of the body rubbed against that pit. Is the presence of impurities in this small pit related to the measurement accuracy, or is it simply a function of the fixed object being measured? Dear experts, please help take a look
Yokogawa’s vortex street sensor? That crossbar in the vortex street generator is merely a mechanical device that blocks the flow of fluid in order to create vortex streets; I don’t have the actual device in front of me, so it’s difficult to be certain, but theoretically it shouldn’t have any impact.

The sensor is located on the vortex street generator; theoretically, impurities in the mounting holes should not have any effect. However, if such impurities cause a change in the position at which the vortex street generator is installed, then it will have an impact.
I also don’t think there’s any problem; that small pit is there to secure the vortex street generator. After the body is inserted into the small pit, there is almost only a tiny gap left. Every time a problem occurs, I take the affected part apart and clean it; I also clean any small holes, and then I reinstall it. A few times, the generator was not removed for cleaning; only the inner walls of the flow meter and the generator itself were cleaned (the small pits were not cleaned). Sometimes this approach doesn’t work, and I don’t know why
Because the element was removed for cleaning and then reinstalled, the relative position between the element and the inner wall of the flow meter changed. It’s possible that the positions are different from before (the installation process relies on visually determining the positions), so it’s not clear where exactly the problem lies

Isn’t that pit the result of the action of a fixed entity? Does it also have a measuring function?
In my humble opinion, that small pit does not affect the measurements; however, the impurities in that pit cause a change in the position of the object, which in turn leads to variations in the number of vortices formed, resulting in measurement errors.
