In industrial design, the air separation zone is generally not classified as an explosion-hazardous area. But how should the zoning be determined inside the analysis booth in the air separation zone, where a spectrometer is installed and hydrogen is used as the fuel gas? Do all internal instruments and electrical equipment need to be considered for explosion protection?
The cabin is a confined space, and there is a possibility of the accumulation of flammable gases. It is designed for Zone 1 or Zone 2 explosion protection; appropriate explosion-proof electrical equipment is used inside the cabin, along with safety monitoring systems that ensure forced ventilation of the cabin when any potential hazards arise. You can refer to the standards for analysis booths in national standards and chemical industry standards.
Generally, air separation plant manufacturers only consider using explosion-proof models for chromatographs and solenoid valves, as well as adding hydrogen detectors and exhaust fans for ventilation; no explosion-proof measures are taken for other components? Is it in compliance with the standards?
There is no general rule; it always depends on the specific circumstances.
I have researched several air separation plants; companies such as Air Liquide, Hangzhou Oxygen, and Kaikong do not consider the small buildings as Zone 2. Measures are taken only in relation to chromatography.
If a hydrogen leak detection system is installed, it means the manufacturer also considers a leak possible; then, according to the standards, is it meeting the requirements of clause 2?
