For detecting flammable gases in ethylene oxide pipelines, does the current process requirement allow the flammable gas sensors to be installed within the insulation layer (where there are relatively large gaps)? This would enable early detection in the event of a leak. For pipelines that are 3 kilometers long, sensors should be installed every 100 meters. I was wondering if there’s any problem with setting it up this way? Regarding safety and feasibility of construction, has Haiyou carried out similar projects before? Please advise

The low temperature mentioned upstairs is indeed a problem; during installation, the sensor part must be kept away from the surface of the pipe, which requires solid external support. Once an alarm is triggered, it’s necessary to remove the insulation layer and replace all the gas in contact with the sensor in order to eliminate the alarm signal, which is quite troublesome.
The temperature is around 5 degrees Celsius, so it should be fine. If an alarm is triggered, it indicates a leak, and it must be addressed, as ethylene oxide is a relatively dangerous gas
The location detected by the alarm is not necessarily the site of the leak, but replacing all the gas inside the insulation requires a considerable amount of work.
There seem to be two issues with this setup. First, the temperature of the pipes is low; if the insulation is inadequate, condensation forms around the pipes, which is not favorable for the probe; Secondly, is such a detection method truly more effective than normal installation? Suppose a sensing probe is located at a distance and the insulation is damaged; in that case, the leaking medium will generally flow along paths of least resistance, and it’s not certain that it will reach the probe~~
It seems it won’t work; according to GB50016 requirements, it should be installed outside, and there are also specifications regarding the installation height and distance
I also thought of the second issue, and I brought it up with the production team; originally they were placed every 200 meters, but after discussing it, it was decided that they could be installed every 100 meters. The process is considered better than having none. Under normal circumstances, it’s sufficient to make the settings at the connection port
It is recommended to place them on both sides of the pipe, slightly below where the pipe is installed~~
It is still best to set it up in strict accordance with the requirements of GB 50493-2009, \"Code for Design of Detection and Alarm Systems for Flammable and Toxic Gases in Petrochemical Industries\". There are some strict requirements inside, which must be followed strictly in accordance with the specifications.
Ethylene oxide is not included in the list of highly toxic substances specified in Ministry of Health Document No. 143; therefore, only flammability testing is required.
