When a pressure transmitter measures negative pressure inside a container (around -0.1 MPa), and the transmitter is installed below the pressure sampling port, with a condensate tank attached to the pressure conduit (when the medium being measured is steam), can the water column in the pressure conduit transmit the negative pressure to the sensor diaphragm of the transmitter? Can the effect of the water column be eliminated through zero-point migration in order to measure the negative pressure value?
Change the installation location. Is it cold in your area during winter? Will the condensation tank of the pressure introduction pipe freeze over in winter? The amount of water column migration is different in summer and winter as well. It’s no problem to install pressure transmitters directly nowadays; there’s no need for a condensation tank, and a condensation ring is more practical than a condensation tank.
When a pressure transmitter is used to measure negative-pressure steam, installing the transmitter below the pressure sampling port can cause many problems. When the negative pressure is low, condensate easily forms in the pressure guide tube ； And when the negative pressure is high, the condensate in the pressure guide tube tends to boil and evaporate easily. If the process is unstable or there are frequent start-ups and shutdowns, it can be extremely exhausting. It is best to change the transmitter’s installation location. Installing isolation facilities can solve the problem, but it may cause measurement errors.
