What is the difference between a pressure switch and pressure interlock control?
Pressure switches can be used for pressure interlock control, but considering their reliability, issues such as contact sticking may occur, as well as difficulties in tracing the origin of problems. If pressure switches are used for interlock control, it is recommended to adopt a three-out-of-two interlock logic scheme. Of course, it is preferable to use pressure transmitters for interlock control, as this allows monitoring of pressure changes, facilitating the identification and resolution of problems. In terms of reliability, a three-out-of-two logic scheme remains the best option; however, it is more accurate to determine the logic structure based on the logic recommended by the process package or the SILE level determined through HAZOP analysis.
