In 2012, a “Instrument Defect Management System” developed using VB was created; it enabled the correlation between instrument defects and equipment records. The database used was ACCESS, and it was a stand-alone version. What’s important is that it allowed for the automatic association of images with defect entries, as there are numerous photos of equipment failures in actual work – over time, these photos get forgotten, become difficult to find, or it becomes hard to establish a connection between them... However, due to various reasons, further updates were discontinued. Due to changes in the nature of the work, there are more and more types of tables that need to be kept track of, making things increasingly complicated. Sometimes, more than a dozen windows have to be opened at once. The main issue is that when one piece of information is updated, to get the latest version immediately, data has to be sent back and forth repeatedly. In some cases, a single file can have several versions, which ends up causing chaos. I told Shan Gong that I wanted to create a system to manage this situation, even if it meant working on it a little bit each day. Shan Gong said that we should go ahead with it; with persistence, it could definitely be completed. And so, the prototype of the software was developed. The system is built using ACCESS and operates on a C/S model, allowing multiple users to work on it simultaneously within a local network. It also includes all the functions of the “Instrument Register and Defect Management System” that were developed in 2012 and 2013. More functions will be added in the future. Since the content of interlock operations is often the same when they are disabled, copying and adding new records is an option – that is, all the contents of the current record can be copied as a new record (this function is available in all windows). By clicking on the current time, the current “date, month, day, hour, minute, second” on the device can be obtained. Personnel information can be retrieved from the employee database, or information for personnel not in the database can also be entered. The middle section contains common operations for disabling interlocks; double-clicking on an entry will automatically copy it to the “Disabling Operations” field.
