For monitoring the flame of ground torches, explosion-proof cameras are used to observe the flame; during the day, it is not easy to see clearly. Are there any good methods for detection?
In many places, thermocouples are used to monitor the torch; it is determined that the flame has gone out when the temperature drops below a certain level

Special cameras are required for this purpose – those equipped with infrared or ultraviolet monitoring functions, as they are designed for detecting flames. However, ultraviolet light can cause significant interference when it is too far away or when the sun is shining directly; therefore, careful consideration must be given to the installation location and angle when selecting such cameras. Additionally, using a telephoto lens allows for focusing only on the head of the torch, which also helps to address the issue of observation during the day.
The main instruments for monitoring the flame of ground torches are thermocouples + infrared detectors; these two types of signals can be fed into the DCS control system. The camera is used solely for monitoring; it is independent of the DCS and connected to the industrial television system.
Two or three infrared flame detectors can be installed in different locations, and a system that allows for a choice between two or three options can be created to communicate with the monitoring system
The results shown by the thermocouple are quite accurate. The camera performs poorly during the day but works very well at night, allowing for monitoring of the burning process
The vast majority are ultraviolet detectors; I’ve never heard of any that use infrared light
