I would like to install sensors on the explosion-proof door of the furnace, so that it can detect when the door is opened and trigger an interlock mechanism promptly. What type of instrument should be used for this purpose?
Furnaces are equipped with furnace pressure transmitters, and interlocks are generally set based on high furnace pressure. If one waits until the explosion-proof door opens before activating the interlock, it will be too late.

Many things are possible. Magnetic switch – the door can be made of iron. Infrared beam switch: An alarm is triggered when the door is opened to a certain angle. Photoelectric switch. Limit switch. Travel switch. The simplest approach is to use a reed switch and a small magnet, like those found in electric pressure cookers; that will also work. It depends on your actual operating conditions to choose the best method.
