The flow meter at the outlet of the hydrogen compressor experienced significant pipeline vibration, and the instrument was installed at a high height; this led to cracks forming at the base of the pressure tapping pipe. During the removal of the transmitter, these cracks widened out of control, resulting in the leakage of high-pressure hydrogen gas (5 Mpa) along with oil. Fortunately, no accidents occurred
The integrated installation method has many advantages, but its strength is somewhat limited; especially in areas with high vibration levels such as the compressor outlet, vibrations from the transmitter can cause problems with the welds of the pressure transfer pipes or other parts. It seems you have done a good job with anti-static bonding and grounding; otherwise, it could lead to serious accidents. Thank goodness! Thank goodness!
How can issues like excessive vibration be addressed? By lengthening the pressure tapping tube or by fixing the gauge head in another location?
Should it be separated or kept in an integrated form?
Should this integration use a device with fixed table headers?
Static bypass? Grounding? There isn’t any at all
As can be seen from your diagram, such a long pressure tap pipe lacks support; under strong vibrations, using flanges for pressure sampling poses a significant problem; Even if you add a fixed bracket, the stress will be greater; it’s recommended to move it to a location further away from the exit – that way it will be better for you as well, right? Oil present at the compressor outlet is not a trivial issue; it can cause water hammer effects and may also be the reason for vibrations in your pipelines. You must be vigilant and keep this in mind
I suggest fixing the pipeline as the most fundamental solution. Based on the picture you showed, it seems that the pipeline isn’t fixed; it’s best to find a way to fix it, such as using expansion screws. The transmitter itself has a certain weight, and this does not solve the problem of pipeline vibration; wherever the instrument is installed, joints and welds will still experience leaks due to vibration, or even more serious safety incidents.
