According to the general range classification, the pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. Then why do instruments often indicate that the measurement range is -2 to 16? Isn’t it only 0-14?
I’ve never encountered it; I’ve only seen 0-14 and 2-12

That’s because you don’t understand the significance of pH testing; you only know about aqueous solutions. Do you know that there are also situations where it’s necessary to measure pH in organic solvents?
