For flow meters used to measure the water supply in boilers with small diameters (DN50 and below), which type of flow meter is generally suitable for pure measurement purposes, and which one offers the best cost-performance ratio?
Turbines and ultrasonic waves are both good choices
Can the rotor be used? Is it a bit cheaper?
The price depends on the technical requirements of the process: is it necessary to have cumulative flow measurement, remote transmission, what is the range, what is the pressure level, and what is the temperature?
Flow rate: 2.67 m³/h; cumulative flow measurement is not required; remote transmission is necessary. Pressure: 0.62 MPa; temperature: 104°C; molecular weight: 18.49; dynamic viscosity: 1.19 mPa·s. The process requirement is that a preliminary flow measurement be sufficient
It’s not for soft water; use electromagnetism for that, while vortex flow meters should work for soft water
Conductivity was measured; without electromagnetic fields, it’s not clear whether vortex flow meters or rotors offer better value for money
For horizontal pipes, an ultrasonic flow meter is suitable; for vertical pipes, a rotameter can be used. Conventional domestic electromagnetic and vortex flow meters have a high minimum flow rate threshold, so they can be ruled out. Personally, I think it is more appropriate to consider ultrasonic flowmeters in terms of cost-performance
I’ve never used ultrasound; its accuracy is poor. Also, I’m not sure if temperatures over 100 degrees have an impact on ultrasound
