I’d like to ask everyone: do you use ceramic lining or double-layer stainless steel lining for black water ball valves?
Due to my lack of knowledge about ceramics, I think this technology isn’t yet fully developed. We’ve tried a few units in similar applications, but their performance wasn’t good. The black ball valves we use are made of full duplex steel; they are expensive but function adequately. The cost of the linings is certainly lower, though I’m not sure about their performance.
The temperature of the medium, particle hardness, and acidity or alkalinity need to be taken into consideration. Ordinary high-temperature duplex steel will suffice; ceramics are resistant to acidity and alkalinity, but their problem is their susceptibility to vibration and overpressure shocks
Since the black water coming from the gasification furnace and the water washing tower contains components such as H2O, H2S, NH+4, CN-, Cl-, CO2-3, and coal ash, it has a high level of solid suspended matter and turbidity; therefore, it constitutes a multiphase flow in the black water pipelines, primarily a liquid-solid two-phase flow. Due to the effects of corrosive substances and ash residues throughout the gasification process, wear and erosion of pipes and valves under high temperature, pressure, and stress conditions intensify. Easy wear and erosion, along with frequent maintenance, are also notable characteristics of the valves in the gasification black water and ash water systems; in some cases, the internal components of these valves need to be replaced as often as once a month or even sooner, posing significant challenges to production and maintenance efforts.
