Hello everyone. Flue dampers are used to regulate negative pressure. I was wondering whether these dampers can be adjusted continuously, just like control valves – in other words, whether negative pressure and the operation of the flue dampers can be automated such that the dampers are adjusted at all times. Would doing this cause any damage to the dampers? After all, they are relatively large in size, and there is a risk of them getting stuck.

I’m not sure what kind of furnaces you have; ours control the negative pressure in the furnace by adjusting the frequency of the exhaust fan, and the damper valves are normally closed
Theoretically, it should be possible; it’s a good idea. I wonder if any organization has used it in this way?
The flue dampers should be fully open. Here, we also use the frequency converter of the exhaust fan to regulate the negative pressure in the furnace. As for the flue dampers, it’s hard to say; if they aren’t adjusted over time, they might get corroded and stuck! ! ! !

The adjustment effect of the flue single-board jamming is definitely poor, requiring frequent maintenance ; If you don’t want to make frequent adjustments, set a small dead zone so that no output is generated when the deviation remains within a certain range; at the same time, reduce the intensity of the PID control.

Neither flue ducts nor shutoff doors are precision devices; using them to adjust minor negative pressures in real time is not a good approach. It’s more reliable to use variable-frequency control for the exhaust fans.
The adjustment of the flue damper doors is defective, resulting in unstable negative pressure. This involves the machining precision of the shutter doors, the machining precision and response time of the actuators, as well as the electrical sensitivity of the servo controller. Since the negative pressure is adjusted within a relatively narrow range, using an inverter-driven exhaust fan is the best choice. The prerequisite is that the baffle door must be in an appropriate position.
