The materials before and after the valve are different

One end of the shut-off valve is flanged directly to the feed inlet of the sump, while the other end is connected to a pipe; the materials of the pipe and the sump are different. Should the material of the valve be determined based on the material of the sump or that of the pipe?
In general design, if the material is to be changed, it is done on the downstream side of the valve; therefore, the material of the valve is the same as that of the upstream pipes or equipment.
Choose the higher one, not the lower; use the higher value in place of the lower one!
Isn’t this not standard? Materials of higher grades have a higher cost
