Recently, I have been leading the assessment of Safety Instrumented Systems SIl, and my department is the responsible managing unit. Recently, while carrying out data collection work, I found that it involves different departments such as process, instrumentation, control, and safety; for the same SIF, the various pieces of information related to different components fall under separate units. Only some materials are available for each major. There are frequent disputes – how can one achieve the highest efficiency?

SIS, the evaluation has some use. . . All plants that experience explosions are equipped with SIS. It’s basically just adding an additional independent alarm level – it’s a trivial matter, yet they make it extremely complicated and pretend it’s something serious. . . Safety, damn it. . . If you have the money, enable level 3 and level 8 alarms. . . . .
You drink water every day too – is it the water that causes you to choke when drinking? So are you not going to drink water? It’s okay if someone who works with instruments doesn’t understand safety; they can simply be humble and listen to what others say. Spouting nonsense carelessly only shows that you’re ignorant. It’s fine to spend some money on advertising; if your product is really good, people will naturally pay attention to it. It’s useless to try to attract attention by making sensational statements.
It essentially reflects the management’s disregard for safety. The introduction of SIS in the chemical industry can be likened to obtaining operational permits in many other industries. For matters involving inter-departmental coordination regarding whether work can proceed or not, it should be the vice president in charge of production who takes the lead in coordinating such affairs.

Safety instrumentation is always an ongoing process. An important aspect is to address the issues related to the measurement accuracy of instrument products under various operating conditions, as well as their reliability in operation. Some people speak harshly, but they keep working hard to achieve their goals; thanks to their passion and the contributions they make – even if you are not aware of those contributions – it is worth recognizing them, as long as they manage to solve a problem that has persisted for a long time in one company or organization, a problem that many other products have failed to address.
