According to the safety instrumented systems specifications, for SIL2-level systems, SIS points and DCS points should be installed separately. But the equipment is an old pressure vessel with insufficient openings; what can be done? Can a dual-head, dual-core design meet the SIL2 certification requirements?
The specification states that DCS and CS are two detection points, but here there is only one detection point
What I mean is a dual-head, dual-core design – in other words, the testing component and the output are completely separate from each other; they’re just plugged into the same socket. Can’t that still be considered two separate points? :lol
There are now external temperature measurement methods; by specifying the pipe material, wall thickness, fluid, and so on, it is possible to calculate heat losses and accurately measure the temperature of the fluid inside the pipe
Your DCS and SIS require separate monitoring points; they cannot be connected to the same detection point, as this is required by the standards
That won’t work, right? With two heads and two cores, in theory the points subject to erosion by the medium are the same; if one fails, then under the assumption that the other one has exactly the same quality, it’s likely to fail as well.
Two transmitters are provided to meet SIL 2 requirements
Personally, I don’t think it’s feasible; these two monitoring points are actually one testing site
For SIL2-rated circuits, the measuring elements should be installed independently and preferably in a redundant configuration.
