In an explosion-proof area, my control cabinet requires an external network cable that is connected and disconnected frequently. Is it necessary to use an explosion-proof plug at the connection point between the network cable and the control cabinet? I found in my research that the voltage inside an Ethernet cable is around 3V. Does that mean I don’t need an explosion-proof plug, but only a simple waterproof connector will suffice? I think it’s necessary to add explosion-proof measures. You can consider two aspects: first, the control cabinet should not be connected to the external explosion-proof area through network cable connectors, as there are other electrical components inside the cabinet that also need to be separated from such connections. From a practical standpoint, if someone conducts a safety inspection and you explain that it’s just a network cable, they might not believe you; after all, it’s just called a network cable. So, it’s always better to take an extra step.
