I would like to ask the teachers: There is MODBUS communication and OPC communication on site – what exactly is the difference between the two? What occasions is it suitable for?
In simple terms, OPC refers to communication between computer software applications; it is generally used for transmitting data between higher-level software systems in different control systems. MODBUS, on the other hand, is used for data transfer between devices, such as data exchange between different controllers
If we want to enable communication between data and participate in control and interlocking, which type of communication is better? Which of these two communication methods is more stable? What are their respective advantages and disadvantages?
If it is not suitable for control or interlocking purposes, it is recommended to use I/O channels, as both of these methods have poor stability
It’s not impossible to use communication protocols for this purpose, but Modbus is definitely the choice; OPC isn’t suitable for this task
