Question: How to recalibrate a pressure gauge that has been knocked over and reinstalled on a pipeline
Depending on the designed pressure, a pressure gauge with a range of 1/2 or 2/3 is selected for testing. If there is overpressure and the pressure gauge is damaged, it is necessary to check for leaks again; in the case of overpressure throughout the entire system, it is important to examine whether there might be other damages as well. This is for reference only.
When a pressure gauge exceeds its upper range limit and spills, the spring element is very likely to be damaged. Even if attempts are made to repair the spring element, it may still result in inaccurate measurements. If possible, the spring element should be replaced; otherwise, the entire gauge must be discarded. The low temperatures in winter in the north can cause the pressure-transmitting tubes of pressure gauges to freeze and become blocked, leading to overpressure and the gauge breaking.
If the pressure gauge is overturned, it has been damaged due to overpressure and needs to be replaced
It is recommended to replace it; once the Bourdon tube of a regular pressure gauge is damaged, it’s damaged for good – just like a straight tube that gets bent and can’t be made straight again no matter what.
The spring element may undergo plastic deformation; it is recommended to replace the component
Replace it; since there’s time to repair the pressure gauge, it’s better to just replace it directly
