Feature Overview: Flame Detection/Flame Mapping. Detect3D utilizes advanced ray casting algorithms to accurately determine the obscured field of view of flame detectors. By using data from thousands of rays projected by each detector, a complete 3D representation of the coverage area can be created, which can be visualized using contours or isocontours. When working with the most complex CAD files, the true power of Detect3D becomes evident: ray casting analysis takes just a few seconds instead of several hours. The speed, accuracy, and rapid availability of the results provide engineers with unique insights into flame detector layout. Gas detection/gas mapping in Detect3D allows for the addition of point and open-circuit gas detectors to evaluate the layout of gas detectors. Adding a gas detector is simple – just click on the location where the detector should be placed, or enter the coordinates directly, and then add the detector. Just like flame detectors, if the detector’s location is known, the powerful Excel import function can be used. The following CAD formats are supported: Microstation® (DGN), Autodesk AutoCAD® (DWG, DXF), STEP, IGES, OBJ, and STL. The CAD creation tool Detect3D is just as good as 2D CAD. AutoCAD DWG files can be imported using the 2D CAD import function, and used as a basis for creating 3D geometries with Detect3D’s built-in CAD creation tools. Since separate coverage information is provided for each zone, it is also possible to report the coverage area around the device. Reports on detector layout and area coverage can be exported to Microsoft Excel and PDF files and included in the final report. All views in the main 3D window can be exported as image files, or quickly copied to the clipboard using Ctrl + C; this content can then be pasted into any software that accepts images (such as Microsoft Word).
