This issue has been a source of concern: for the disc of a desalinated water rubber-lined butterfly valve, should it be made of rubber lining or of stainless steel 304 or 316?
The deionized water didn’t cause any corrosion either. Does “gasketed” refer to a soft-sealed valve seat? The valve plate is generally made of stainless steel
Thank you for your advice. Additionally, for the butterfly valves used throughout the desalinated water production process, such as those before and after processes like reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration, can stainless steel valve discs be used?
Desalinated water is non-corrosive; for large diameters, butterfly valves can be used, which saves money, and plain carbon steel is also an option
Stainless steel is better; carbon steel may develop rust
Choosing a rubber-lined version is no problem; the choice of stainless steel should be determined based on the chloride content in the water. The chloride levels in concentrated water and treated water are different. Carbon steel cannot be used, as water does not corrode carbon steel, but the iron ions present in carbon steel valves can affect the reverse osmosis membrane and contaminate the water quality.
The valve body and valve plate made of 304 are great, right?
