Recently, the Siemens positioner SIPART PS2, a double-acting type, used in one guide vane control valve within the maintenance area stopped functioning properly; it could no longer be adjusted, and it couldn’t be opened manually either. When trying to set the valve position manually, air kept being released from it. The piezoelectric valve was replaced as well, but the problem persisted. I would like to ask those who are more experienced – have you encountered such a problem before?
You can use an automatic tuning method to reset the settings again when the material is routed via a bypass. If it still doesn’t work, then there is a problem with the control circuit. If it’s possible to disassemble it, you can disconnect the power cable of the piezoelectric valve and adjust the signal sent to the valve to see if there is any change in voltage; if there is, then there is a problem with the piezoelectric valve. Also, check whether the voltage meets the requirements.

Is there a photo of the entire actuator? How long has it been in use? If the valve can’t move, how do you replace the piezoelectric valve?
Supply air directly to the valve, bypassing the valve positioner (make sure the air pressure is not too high), to ensure that the valve can open and close properly; only then should you consider issues related to the valve positioner. The fastest way is to replace it with a new locator; the problem with the old one might lie in the circuit board or the piezoelectric valve, which can be taken apart and carefully inspected in a calibration lab.
