What is the purpose of the upper and lower limit markings on a pressure gauge? 1. Indicate the highest and lowest pressures at which the equipment operates, to facilitate observation by operators. 2. Indicates the upper and lower limits within which a pressure gauge may be used, to guide the proper use of the gauge.
In actual work, what we do is merely to meet inspection requirements. Pressure control requires strict standards, with narrow upper and lower limits; the pressure that is not under control falls within the range allowed by 1/3 or 2/3 of the pointer’s range.
