The figure below shows the specifications outlined in the SHT 3005 standard; generally, 25 Kpa is chosen. When selecting a wedge flow meter today, I felt that the flow rate was a bit high. I remembered a previous project where the design institute provided specifications for orifice plates, and in that case the flow rate was low, so the range of the differential pressure transmitter selected was 16 Kpa. I would like to ask those with more experience how to determine the appropriate range for such a differential pressure transmitter. Thank you
The specific selection of the transmitter range for differential pressure flowmeters is determined by you providing the manufacturer with the process parameters, after which the manufacturer calculates it in the most optimal way.
Differential pressure flow meters generally consist of components similar to throttle devices; there are specific formulas for calculating these components, and the parameters of the fluid as well as the operating conditions are required. These specified range values for differential pressures are included in the standards so that a more uniform standard can be followed when manufacturing throttling elements, and it also facilitates the conversion of flow rates by transmitters.
Check if there are any requirements regarding pressure loss on your end; if not, you can choose from 7.2.3 based on the operating pressure
