Are 1/2’’ and DN15 pipes the same type of pipe?

As the title suggests, I went to buy galvanized pipes. I told them I wanted 1/2\" inch pipes and DN15 pipes – are these the same type of galvanized pipes?
As stated in GB/T 28708-2012 \"Specifications for the selection of dimensions of seamless and welded steel pipes for pipeline engineering\"
Generally, 1/2 pipe refers to DN15; the unit for DN is mm, while the unit for 1/2 is inches. However, DN15 is also divided into two groups with outer diameters according to the standards shown in the figure above.
That’s correct; generally, galvanized pipes are of National Standard Series A, which corresponds to: DN15-1/2”, DN20-3/4”, DN25-1”, DN32-1-1/4”, DN40-1-1/2”, DN50-2”, DN65-2-1/2”, DN80-3”, DN100-4"
Not necessarily; there may be differences in outer diameter, wall thickness, material, etc
That’s right; both of these have an inner diameter
A 4-mm pipe with DN15 is fine
DN generally refers to the European standard, while ''-inch refers to the American standard, etc.
