Manual valves are installed before and after the DCS cut-off valve at the storage tank outlet. Does the manual valve need to be closed when discharging is not needed?
When discharging is not required, the manual valve should be closed. This is to ensure operational safety and prevent unauthorized discharging. The manual valve should be opened only when discharging is required. .
The first valve at the tank outlet should be a DCS emergency shut-off valve, and manual valves should not be installed before or after it.
Or should the manual valve on the pipeline where the DCS valve is located be open or closed when it is not working?
Generally, the valves on the DCS are interlocked. The manual valve at the outlet must be synchronized with the inlet, and can be closed or not. If it is closed when there is no work, the inlet must also be closed synchronously.
It must be open when working, because materials need to be cut.
Aren’t we talking about parking and non-working status?
Normally, it is closed for safety reasons if the feeding is not frequent. If the feeding is frequent, it does not need to be closed.
Normally, it takes about 3-4 hours to make materials every day, and the rest are in non-working status.
