I’m a designer new to the instrumentation industry. Are it necessary to obtain the TUV Safety Instrumented System Engineer certificate and the TUV Functional Safety Assessor certificate?
If you are involved in the design or evaluation of safety instrumented systems, and your work requires compliance with TUV standards, obtaining these certifications will help improve your technical skills and professional competitiveness. Furthermore, holding these certificates can also demonstrate your in-depth understanding and practical experience in safety instrumented systems and functional safety assessment. Therefore, it is somewhat necessary to obtain the TUV Safety Instrumented Systems Engineer and TUV Functional Safety Assessor certificates. .

This is something that adds extra value, but for a beginner, I personally don’t recommend spending money on it. On the other hand, having money and time to spare – why not go for it? Who knows, maybe that manager will take a liking to you just because you have that certificate, and then you’ll achieve great success? Personally, I suggest focusing on doing technical work thoroughly; if such certifications are often needed in one’s job (such as in PHA), then one can pursue them. Otherwise, isn’t it better to simply focus on improving one’s technical skills?

It’s fine if it’s just to get a certificate, but there’s no need for it if you want to learn something
