For a group of DI/DO points, if remote transmission is to be used, using cables for each individual point consumes too much cable. What equipment is needed if remote transmission is to be adopted instead?
Do we have to use 485 only? If one walks on 485, how far can they go at most?
It depends on what communication protocols your system supports; as long as it supports them, it doesn’t matter how far the distance is
485 can reach up to 1000 meters, but in practice this distance is usually not achieved; if a relay is used in between, transmission over longer distances is possible
Use remote I/O; it varies by system, so consult the manufacturer.
I haven’t tried it; the distance of the light source is greater. If it’s just for monitoring, isn’t it better to use a wireless solution?
Use fiber optic transmission. A welding box, optical modem, and switch are sufficient to achieve this. Of course, corresponding settings need to be made in the system. Address allocation and correspondence, HMI screen display, number of points, names, etc
For very long distances, wireless can be used; but even when using wireless within a factory, there is still a risk of signal interference
