Electromagnetic flowmeter manufacturers generally do not provide grounding rings; these rings are used to ground electromagnetic flowmeters when they are installed in lined pipes or non-metallic pipes. If the instrument’s specifications or technical agreement do not require it, the manufacturer will usually not include a grounding ring.
Each case must be analyzed on its own merits. For ordinary small-diameter electromagnetic flowmeters, a few manufacturers provide grounding electrodes or grounding rings as standard equipment, though these are limited to grounding electrodes or grounding rings made of less expensive materials. For large-diameter electromagnetic flowmeters, grounding electrodes or grounding rings are definitely not part of the standard configuration; they require an additional cost and are available as optional accessories. Some other conventional electromagnetic flowmeters for water transfer can do without ground electrodes or ground rings, as long as it is ensured that there are no electromagnetic interference sources at the locations where the pipelines and the electromagnetic flowmeter are installed.
