During the 40 days of operation, the liquid level in the Texaco gasifier kept rising gradually. What’s going on? How to handle it?
First, determine whether it is the actual liquid level (an issue with the instrument); if it is indeed the actual level, then it proves that more water is entering and less is exiting, after which further checks can be carried out one by one.
In such cases, it is first necessary to check whether there are any issues with the display of the remote level gauge. Generally, a gasification furnace has three remote level gauges plus one local one. If the trends and readings of all four level gauges are showing an increase, it is very likely that the liquid level is indeed rising; in such a case, it is advisable to check the black water outlet pipeline in the quench chamber of the vaporizer. However, during winter operation, the flush water for level gauges in some units may operate in a constant-flow mode; if this is the case, try reducing or turning off the flush water for the level gauges.

All three level gauges are working properly, and the drainage flow rate from the vaporization furnace has been increased to 270, yet it still can’t be reduced. What’s going on?
What are the normal parameters for the drainage design of the gasifier i? Is 270 way too much? If the excess is significant, it is recommended that the original poster check the quench water system again, with a focus on determining whether there are any internal leaks in the pipes used for accident quenching. Another point is that if the concentration of the coal slurry remains low for an extended period, the water vapor content in the gas generated in the combustion chamber may be higher than that in the gas from the quenching chamber under the same temperature conditions; as a result, some condensed water will remain in the quenching chamber. First, check whether the furnace temperature is too low. Generally, the amount of water carried in the syngas is about half that of the water drained (the amount of water drained can be roughly estimated using a flow meter or the valve position). A low heat load results in less water in the syngas, which in turn affects the liquid level in the gasifier. Secondly, slag accumulation in the downcomer, or issues with the downcomer itself, along with an excessively high Venturi pressure difference, can cause pressure buildup that affects the flow of water
The tray temperature and the temperature at the synthesizer outlet are both normal. The drainage from the vaporization furnace has been increasing gradually, starting from 200; currently the liquid level is around 75. The water supply to the scrubber remains above 220
First, check how the remote level gauge is installed – whether it comes with a manway or not. It is not acceptable for it to be connected directly to the main body; instead, a manway should be used. Identify the reasons behind this, and check whether the flushing water flow rate for the manway is appropriate. There may also be an issue of insufficient water flow for flushing the level gauge module when it is connected to the main body, and scaling in the water system could be a possibility. Therefore, it is recommended to determine the causes first.
